本書には、ドヴォルザーク自身が編曲したチェロとピアノのための「静かな森」が収録されています。これは、ピアノ連弾曲集「シュマヴァより」第5番から抜粋したものです。作曲家は、1892年にアメリカへ出発する前の別れの印として、チェコとモラヴィアの町々を巡る演奏旅行の準備をしていた際に、この編曲を作曲しました。この編曲は、原曲のピアノ版の流麗で優雅な旋律をそのまま残しています。本書は、アントニン・ドヴォルザーク作品全集（初の校訂版）に収録されています。

This edition contains Dvorak's own arrangement of Silent Woods for cello and piano, taken from No. 5 from the piano cycle for four hands „From Sumava“. The composer decided to write this arrangement when he was preparing for a concert tour of Czech and Moravian towns and cities in 1892 as a gesture of farewell before his departure for America. This arrangement retains the mellifluous, broadly arching melody from the original piano version. This title is part of the first Complete Critical Edition of Works by Antonin Dvorak.
