アンリ・デュティユー（1916–2013）は、20世紀を代表するフランスの大作曲家の一人として広く認められており、音楽の普及と教育における重要な存在でもあります。色彩感と形式的な簡潔さは、20世紀のさまざまな潮流から影響を受けた、彼のエレガントな音楽語法を特徴づけています。
1947年、パリ音楽院のオーボエ・コンクールのために書かれたこの《ソナタ》は3つの楽章から成り、第1楽章は厳格なカノンで始まり、続く2つの楽章ではより豊かなテクスチュアが展開されます。

Henri Dutilleux (1916–2013) is recognised as one of the greatest French composers of the 20th century, as well as a key player in the dissemination and teaching of music. A sense of colour and a formal conciseness are the hallmarks of his elegant musical language, which drew its inspiration from various twentieth-century trends. Written in 1947 as part of the oboe competition for the Paris Conservatoire, this Sonate is composed of three movements, the first one beginning with an austere canon while the latter two comprising more texture.
